This article introduces iOS 17's new functions, how to change the Home screen and Lock screen wallpapers, and recommends wallpaper services!
【Basic】How to Change Home Screen and Lock Screen Wallpapers
There are three ways to change wallpapers. The most recommended method is changing from the Lock screen! The Home screen wallpaper allows you to remove blur, use iPhone's special wallpaper presets, add widgets, and make all sorts of stylish customizations.
Changing from the Lock screen
- Hold down on the Lock screen.
- Swipe to the left and move to the far right. (If you want to change an already set wallpaper, tapping "Customize" is also fine)
- Tap the "+" button.
- Choose the image you want to set as wallpaper. In addition to preset wallpapers, you can also tap "Photos" in the top left to set your favorite image.
- A preview will be displayed. Crop it and tap "Add".
- Tap "Customize Home Screen". (If you're OK with the same wallpaper as the Lock screen, tap "Set as Wallpaper Pair")
- Tap "Photos".
- Choose the image you want to set as Home screen wallpaper.
- Adjust cropping, zoom, color filters, etc. to your liking and tap "Done".
- If everything looks good, tap "Done" again to finish!
Basically, following this method should prevent your wallpaper from becoming blurry, but if it does blur, make sure to confirm that "Blur" is turned OFF on this screen!
Changing from the "Settings" app
- Launch the "Settings" app.
- Tap "Wallpaper".
- To customize your current wallpaper, tap "Customize". The left side is for the Lock screen, and the right is for the Home screen. (This time, the Lock screen “customize” was selected)
- Tap the “photo” mark in the lower left corner and re-select your favorite image!
- After selecting a photo, tap "Done". This completes the Lock screen change!
- To change the Home screen, tap "Customize" on the right side.
- On the Home screen editing screen, tap "Photos".
- Choose a new photo.
- Crop or trim as needed.
- Tap "Done".
- Turn off blur if it's ON.
- Tap "Done".
Changing from the "Photos" app
- Launch the "Photos" app.
- Choose the image you want to set as wallpaper from a folder.
- After selecting and displaying the image, tap the "Share" mark in the bottom left.
- Scroll down a bit and tap "Use as Wallpaper".From here, you can follow the same steps from number "5" in the "Changing from Lock Screen" section!
Revived in iOS 17! "Live Wallpaper" Feature with Moving Wallpapers
The "Live Wallpaper" feature using Live Photos, which was discontinued in iOS 16 to many users' disappointment, has been revived in iOS 17. Set a Live Photo as your wallpaper, and when you tap the power button, the wallpaper appears to move!
*Note: When I tried it, I could only set actual Live Photos I had taken, so be aware of this.
