Baby is cranky... Could it be a mental leap?

Mental leaps are periods when babies develop perception and cognitive abilities during their growth process 🍼. In other words, it's timing when they're rapidly absorbing new things 👶🏻. Discovered by Dutch Dr. Plooij.

During this period, babies may experience intense emotional changes and become fussier. It might be a tough period for moms and dads... but it's proof that baby is growing! Consider it an important sign of change 👩🏻‍⚕️

When are mental leaps?

Mental leaps occur 10 times from 5 weeks after birth, based on the due date. (Even if the actual birth date differs from the due date, the "due date" is the reference!) Each period also varies from 3 to 35 days, but the timing and duration of mental leaps also vary by baby, so consider it as a guideline.

  • Leap 1(Around 5 weeks after birth)
  • Leap 2(Around 8 weeks after birth)
  • Leap 3(Around 12 weeks after birth)
  • Leap 4(Around 19 weeks after birth)
  • Leap 5(Around 26 weeks after birth)
  • Leap 6(Around 37 weeks after birth)
  • Leap 7(Around 46 weeks after birth)
  • Leap 8(Around 55 weeks after birth)
  • Leap 9(Around 64 weeks after birth)
  • Leap 10(Around 75 weeks after birth)

Using a dedicated calculator tool is convenient for grasping the estimated timing!
