iOS18：How to Lock Apps on Your iPhone

iOS18, it's now possible to individually lock apps! It's reassuring to know that in case of loss or theft, third parties can't open your apps without permission. In this article, I'll explain in detail how to lock apps in iOS18.

How to Lock an App

1. Hold down the app you want to lock. This works on both the home screen and in the app library! (Notes app is selected in the picture)
2. Tap "Require Face ID".

3. When the pop-up "Require Face ID for [app name]?" appears, tap "Require Face ID".

How to Lock and Hide an App

1. Hold down the app you want to lock. This works on both the home screen and in the app library! (BeReal. app is selected in the picture)
2. Tap "Require Face ID".

3. When the pop-up "Require Face ID for [app name]?" appears, tap "Hide and Require Face ID".
4. When the pop-up "Hide [app name]?" appears, tap "Hide App".

How to Disable an App Lock

1. Hold down the locked app. This works on both the home screen and in the app library! (Facebook app is selected in the picture)
2. Tap "Don't Require Face ID".

Important Points to Note

When an app is locked, youwon't receive notifications or calls. Also, if you've customized the app icon, you'll need to use the original icon to configure these settings!
