How to Get Transparent Widgets on iPhone and Android

【Android】How to Create a Transparent Widget

I'll be using the customization app "WidgetClub"! With this app, you can easily create widgets with transparent backgrounds. 🧙‍♀️

1. Download WidgetClub.

2. Open the app and tap "Create."

3. Tap "Widget."
4. Select the type of widget you want to create (for this guide, I chose Large).

5. Tap the color palette under "Background Color."
6. Move the bottom slider to the left (set it to 0).

7. Customize options like "Theme Color" and "Font."
8. Tap "Set."

9. Select the frame where you want to set the widget.
10. When asked, "Add to Home Screen?" tap "Add."

11. Return to the home screen and tap outside the frame.
12. Done!

【iPhone】 How to Create a Transparent Widget

For iPhone users, I'll use the app "Widgy Widgets". This guide is based on iOS 18, so update your iOS to the latest version before starting.

1. Download Widgy Widgets.
   Download here
2. Hold down the home screen.

3. Swipe left to find an empty screen with no apps.
4. Take a screenshot of that screen.

5. Open "Widgy Widgets" and tap "Explore."
6. Select the widget you want to create.

7. Tap "Import Widget."
8. When "Imported successfully!" appears, tap "Dismiss."

9. Tap "+ Create."
10. From "Imported," select the widget you just saved.

11. Tap "Edit As A Copy."
12. Tap the "..." button in the “Shape” section.

13. Tap "Delete."
14. Tap "Confirm."

15. Tap "Add New Layer."
16. Tap "Image."

17. Tap the "Photo Icon."
18. Tap "Widgy."

19. Tap "Transparent Background."
20. Tap "Add Wallpaper" (*If a pop-up appears, tap "Unlock Right Away.")

21. Select the screenshot of your home screen taken earlier.
22. Tap "☑" in the top right corner.

23. Tap the dotted square icon.
24. Tap the "+" under "Size" to adjust the image to fit the widget.

25. Tap "<" in the top left.
26. Tap "Confirm.”

27. Tap "Manage."
28. Select the widget size you just created.

29. From "Yours," select your newly created widget again.
30. Choose the area where you want to place the widget and tap "✔"

31. When prompted to "Apply Theme?" tap "YES."
32. Return to the home screen and hold down.

33. Tap "Edit" in the top left.
34. Tap "Add Widget."

35. Search for "Widgy" and tap it.
36. Select the widget you just created.

37. Tap "Add Widget."
38. Tap "Done" in the top right.

39. All done!

What If You Want to Change the Background Wallpaper?

If you want to change your wallpaper and remake the widget, you'll need to re-register the "Transparent Background Image." Keep in mind that any existing transparent widgets will also update to the new background.

1. Open the app and tap "Manage."
2. Tap "Setup Transparency."

3. Tap the delete icon.
4. Tap "Add Wallpaper."

5. Select the new wallpaper and tap "✔" in the top right.
6. Done!
