Apple’s latest iPhone OS, iOS 26, is set to launch on September 16th, 2025! Here are 10 of the biggest new features coming with iOS 26.
The new Liquid Glass design has a sleek, glass-like texture and a beautiful semi-transparent style. It completely refreshes the look of your lock screen, home screen, control center, notifications—basically the whole iPhone interface.
Like its name, “Liquid” + “Glass,” it gives off a flowing, glassy, eye-catching vibe. Safari, the App Store, and other Apple apps get the Liquid Glass design, giving them a modern, translucent look. Menu bars and tabs even have a smooth, fluid animation.
iOS 26 adds a new Clear option for icons, letting you make them semi-transparent. Up until iOS 18, you only had “Light,” “Dark,” and “Tint,” but now “Clear” joins the lineup. Choose it and both your icons and widgets take on a see-through effect that blends with your wallpaper.
Previously, you had to go into Settings or the Lock Screen to switch wallpapers. With iOS 26, you can do it right from the home screen. Hold down your home screen, tap “Edit” in the top-left corner, and a new Edit Wallpaper option appears—making wallpaper changes super quick.
The new Spatial Scenes feature can transform high-quality iPhone photos into 3D-style images. Whether it’s a portrait or a character illustration, you can add depth and bring pictures to life. It even works with Apple’s Photos widget—so eligible photos show up in a 3D-style right on your home screen.
Best use case? Your lock screen wallpaper. Just turn on Spatial Scenes when setting a lock screen wallpaper, and iOS automatically adds a 3D effect.
You can now adjust the watch's texture and size!
Until now, you could only change the font and color of the lock screen clock. In iOS 26, you can now pick its texture too. There are two options: Glass (new in iOS 26) and Solid (the classic look).
The size of the clock on the lock screen can now be freely adjusted. From its current size, you can enlarge the clock to occupy up to half the screen. Simply drag the bottom-right corner of the clock frame downwards.
Also, the clock adapts its size based on your wallpaper and notifications, so it stays visible without getting covered.
The widgets under the clock on the lock screen can now be repositioned. You can leave them under the clock (default) or move them to the bottom of the screen above the flashlight/camera controls. Perfect if you want a cleaner top area or if you’re using a bigger clock.
When you get a call from an unknown number, iOS 26’s AI will auto-answer, ask for the caller’s name and purpose, and then forward that info to you as the “Reason for Call” before ringing your phone. You can enable it via Settings > Apps > Phone > Screen Unknown Callers.
We’ve all been stuck on hold when calling customer service. With Hold Assist, you don’t have to sit listening to music anymore. Just leave your phone aside—once an operator picks up, your iPhone notifies you right away, so you don’t waste time waiting.

If you get a message in another language, iOS 26 can automatically translate it into your language once you download the translation pack. In group chats, Apple Intelligence even steps in to assist—for example, suggesting a poll feature if it thinks it’s useful.
