Check this app

Have you ever wished your Android lock screen wallpaper would change every time you turn the screen on or off, or at specific intervals? Well, good news—it’s possible!

The exact features and settings can vary depending on your device and Android version, but I’ll walk you through how I do it on my Galaxy (Android 14). I’ll also show you how to use third-party apps that work across most Android phones, not just Galaxy models!

How to Automatically Change the Android Lock Screen Wallpaper

If you’re using a Galaxy device, there are two main ways to do this:

  1. Use a third-party app
  2. Use the built-in Dynamic Lock Screen feature (Galaxy only)

Let’s start with third-party apps—they’re available on Google Play and work with most Android devices 🙆🏻‍♀️

1. Wallshow

Wallshow is an app that lets you automatically change your wallpaper at specific intervals. You can choose to update just the lock screen, just the home screen, or both. The settings interface is in English only, but it’s simple enough to set up without hassle.

Available Change Triggers:

  • Every 5, 10, 15, or 30 seconds
  • Every 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes
  • Every 1, 2, 3, 6, or 12 hours
  • Daily
  • When the screen turns on/off or is unlocked

How To Use It:

  1. Open the app and scroll down to “Select picture for your slideshow,” then tap the + button
  2. Choose the images that want to use

2. Auto Change Wallpaper

This app lets me automatically update my wallpaper with specific images. It supports Japanese in the settings, which is great. However, it doesn't allow applying changes to the lock screen only—it updates both the lock and home screens ⚠️

Available Change Triggers

  • Change wallpaper every X seconds, minutes, hours, or days (1–180 units)
  • Or set a specific time (e.g., every day at 8:00 AM)

How To Use It:

  1. Open the app and go to the “Album tab”
  2. Tap the “+ button”

3. Using Galaxy’s “Dynamic Lock Screen” Feature

If you’re using a Galaxy device, you also have access to the Dynamic Lock Screen feature. This changes your lock screen wallpaper each time you turn on the screen. However, you can’t use your own photos for this one.

Main Features:

  • Choose up to 5 categories from themes like Landscapes, Plants, Life, Dogs, Cats, Animals, Art, Food, Desserts, and Special.
  • It randomly displays images from the selected categories.
  • New images are updated every two weeks.

How To Set It Up:

  1. Hold down on the lock screen
  2. Tap Wallpaper in the top left
